Portugal is also located on the Iberian Peninsula. It is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and Spain. The Tagus River splits the county. Portugal has a Mediterranean climate like parts of Spain.

There is plenty to do and see if you decide to travel to Portugal. Because Portugal has such a long coastline there are plenty of beaches to enjoy. If you travel to Porto e Norte you can see some actual archaeological sites. These areas are beautiful. Popular places are Guimaraes, Amarante and Citania De Briteiros. Citania De Briteiros is home of ancient ruins.

The Lisboa area is also popular to tourists. It has a rich history to explore as well as modern attractions. Historically the area was a huge sea port. You can travel around this city by boat or on the Tram system. There are also many museums to see throughout Lisbon. If you want to see monuments they are located in the Belem area and Jeronimos Monastery. These places are also perfect if you want to see examples of Portuguese architecture.
